Subaru Outback (BR): If the Low fuel warning light lights up

The fuel tank's low fuel warning light activates when it's nearly empty and only functions with the ignition switch in the "ON" position. When this light comes on, it's crucial to refill the fuel tank promptly.

Please be cautious and refill the tank as soon as the low fuel warning light appears. Running the engine on an empty tank can lead to engine misfires and potential damage.

It's important to note that the low fuel warning light activates when there's approximately 2.6 US gallons (10 liters, 2.2 Imperial gallons) of fuel remaining in the tank. The light will remain on until the tank is refilled to a level of about 4.0 US gallons (15 liters, 3.3 Imperial gallons).

When the low fuel warning light illuminates, it serves as a reminder to refuel as soon as possible to avoid any potential issues related to running on empty. Neglecting to refill the tank promptly can lead to engine problems, such as misfires, which may result in costly repairs.

It's advisable to keep an eye on the fuel gauge and refill the tank before it reaches critically low levels indicated by the warning light. This proactive approach not only ensures smooth engine performance but also prevents the risk of being stranded due to insufficient fuel.
