Subaru Outback (BR): Front Inner Remote

A: REMOVAL

1) Remove the door trim. <Ref. to EI-60, REMOVAL, Door Trim.>

2) Remove the screws to detach the front inner remote handle.

B: INSTALLATION

1) Before installation, check the following items.

2) Install each part in the reverse order of removal.

C: INSPECTION

Check if the front remote handle operates normally.

Front Outer Handle

A: REMOVAL

1) Raise the front door glass to the top position.

2) Remove the door trim. <Ref. to EI-60, REMOVAL, Door Trim.>

3) Remove the sealing cover.

4) Release the rod from the rod clamp of outer handle.

5) Remove the door outer handle cover.

Preparation tool: TORX T30

  1. Remove the plug to the rear of the door panel.
  2. Loosen the TORX bolt and remove the door outer handle cover.

6) Move the front outer handle to the rear and remove the front outer handle.

CAUTION: Do not apply excessive force to remove the handle from the door panel. The door panel may become deformed.

7) Remove the frame assembly.

Preparation tool: TORX T30

  1. Remove the outer spacer.

  1. Loosen the TORX bolt and remove the frame assembly from the door panel.

B: INSTALLATION

1) Before installation, check the following items.

2) Install each part in the reverse order of removal.

Tightening torque: Refer to "COMPONENT" of "General Description". <Ref. to SL-2, DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY, COMPONENT, General Description.>

C: INSPECTION

Check if the front outer handle operates normally.

Front Door Latch and Door Lock Actuator Assembly

A: REMOVAL

1) Raise the front door glass to the top position.

2) Remove the front door trim. <Ref. to EI-60, REMOVAL, Door Trim.>

3) Remove the sealing cover.

4) Remove the inner pad.

5) Remove the rod from the outer handle rod clamp.

6) Remove the door sash lower.

  1. Remove the lower side of the glass run rubber.
  2. Remove the bolts, and then remove the door sash lower.

7) Remove the front door latch and door lock actuator assembly.

  1. Disconnect the connector.
  2. Remove the screws, and remove the front door latch & door lock actuator assembly.

B: INSTALLATION

1) Before installation, check the following items.

2) Install each part in the reverse order of removal.

Tightening torque: Refer to "COMPONENT" of "General Description". <Ref. to SL-2, DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY, COMPONENT, General Description.>

C: INSPECTION

1. FRONT DOOR LATCH

Check if the front door latch operates normally.

If the cable or rod is faulty, replace the front door latch & door lock actuator assembly.

2. FRONT DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR

1) Disconnect the front door lock actuator connector.

2) Check the door lock operation by applying battery voltage between the terminals of front door lock actuator.

3) If the actuator does not operate normally, replace the front door latch & door lock actuator assembly.
